It was another late morning for most of the team, and another day with our Billets. A large group of the boys went to see American Pie the Wedding, which they all enjoyed. This group then went into town before the matches in the evening mainly for a late lunch but also for gifts. Other groups did other things. Sam Bryant and Adam Chambers went 4x4 driving with their billets. Jake & Jesse Burgoine braved the ocean and did a bit of surfing with their billets and enjoyed themselves - with two wetsuits !
We returned to the Adelaide Aquatic Centre for the matches against the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) teams which source the best players in Adelaide and train them intensively with the aim of producing future Australian players. Their coach, Eddie Dennis, who had sportingly given the boys a taste of his training regime on Friday morning, was the Australian goalkeeper at the Sydney Olympics.
The U/14s opened proceedings and looked very tired from the off, having enjoyed a weekend of activities with their hosts. To be fair, even at our best, we were going to be no match for SASI. We still had our moments and James Owen scored 3 goals and Andrew Court another one. Bryn had a lot of work to do in goal and made many fine saves even though he conceded a lot. The final score of 19-4 may be a wake up call for the rest of the trip.

The junior line up.
The seniors played the SASI U/17 B team and played their best polo of the tour. Solid defending was evident as we leaked the fewest goals. Chris Craig made some excellent saves and in front of goal Blair scored two crackers, one a counter attack goal and the second a clever switching of hands to bamboozle both the defender and the goalkeeper. Sam Whittle added a third in the last quarter to leave the score 12-3.
We now have 4 days off and play again on Thursday in Brisbane.
