We met at Immanuel College at 10.00 ready to catch the coach at 10.30 back to Brisbane.  There was lots of hugging of new found friends but fortunately not too much kissing!!

It is Queensland law that eating and drinking is prohibited on buses (a good idea in my book as the buses were all spotless at the journeys' end) so the boys were whining about hunger before we even arrived back.  It would have made Bryn's day if he could have devoured a Hungry Jacks, I had to confiscate his M & M's to save him a long walk.

We played 2 x 8 min halves in the tournament in an outdoor pool in the rain.  The juniors played a Churchie U/15 side and won comfortably 4-0, James scored 2, Andy 1 and a cracking opener for Bryce much to his and the team's delight.  The seniors played our hosts senior team and went into a 4-0 lead with 2 goals from Rob, and one apiece from Sam and Adam Monico.  Churchie came back in the second half with three goals but we managed to hold on to win our second game.

We then played Brisbane Boys College (BBC) U/15 and played well throughout the game against much bigger players.  Rupert, having trained for 2 hours with the Queensland U/17 yesterday, had a stormer with great defensive work and strong tackling.  He also had a couple of good shots which ended up too near the goalie.  Andrew got 4, James a brace and Dom a beauty from 8 metres.  A 7-0 win and no goals conceded in the tournament surely must have made HIS day!!

The seniors played last against BBC seniors.  In a close fought contest we lost 4-0 mainly because we couldn't score against some powerful defending and a very big and mobile goalkeeper.

Rohan about to get to grips with man or ball!

The seniors are much improved with Rohan organising proceedings from the back.  Brother Adam is a real threat playing deep on the right.  Rob, as the other leftie roams from wing to wing. Sam goes straight down the middle and according to Guy is "predictable"!  That means when he gets the ball he shoots.  Blair plays well at centre forward with his long levers allowing him to get round his man.  Guy has improved quickly and defends and counter attacks well.  Sam Bryant's endurance has improved and he has been effective as secondary hole set

Matt showing the benefits of lip enhancement!

James Simpson is a reliable first change and works hard at both ends.  Matt has also improved especially in his attacking play. The twins Jesse and Jake are learning to cover back and get physical in defence, they have both managed to get shots off in attack though they have yet to score.  Adam Chambers also has made good contributions to the play, he has added to his defensive ability with some good attacking play, finding space and supporting the front men.

Adam Monico proving water  polo is a non-contact sport!

Chris Craig has got back to his best and made a couple of point blank saves in the game today.  As the overall team defence has improved the side has looked more solid and our attacking options have been enhanced greatly.

Rohan presents the Churchie captain with a tour T-shirts

After the tournament there was a barbie on the poolside and a presentation was made by both team coaches and captains.  We do look forward to being able to host a Queensland school team in the not too distant future.
